Shabby Chic Wholesale Homewares

Shabby chic homewares make eye catching displays. The term describes a style that is romantic and feminine, often consisting of white and cream tones. Shabby chic is so named because of the distressed look of the furnishings and décor that suggest signs of aging. For example an object may bear layers of paint with some that have been chipped off as though decades have passed. Shabby chic homewares usually imitate old fashioned styles even if they are not actually antiques.  French cottage style patterns are commonly used such as floral, fleur du lis, cherubic nudes, or landscapes. The style is notable for attention to details such as chandeliers, strings of lights, lamps, glassware, picture frames, mirrors, or linen and cotton accessories.

Furniture

Furnishings that have been painted white are a mainstay of any shabby chic decorating scheme. A padded armchair with wooden legs looks like seating from a bygone era. Side tables and consoles with vintage details fit well in sitting areas, flanking a bed, or lining hallways. Ledges and shelves with classic architecture are perfect for holding knick knacks and bric-a-brac. Metal furniture spun into vine like spirals reflect a romantic style that suits indoor and outdoor eating areas. Coat racks, umbrella stands, and towel racks are fanciful elements of yesteryear that still suit their intended purpose.

Lighting

The glowing light from a lamp or candlestick is an essential element of design. Modern styles of light fixture come and go. Ceramic table lamps with a crackle motif fit set the standard for prototypical lighting. Years ago the candle used to be essential for seeing in the dark. Technology has advanced but candle holders still lend an elegant air to table tops. The tapered or triple candleholders look like they belong in a 19th century French novel.  Twinkling votives and lanterns illuminate corners of the home and garden like sprites. Votive holders bear romantic details that stand out even on their own.

Wall Hangings

Clusters of wooden picture frames covered in chipped or flecked paint provide a stylish focal point on a printed canvas of wallpaper.  An armoire or vanity table lined with diamante metal swirl frames is reminiscent of a bygone era before digital photography existed.  Forgo traditional notions of how to display a picture with a frame covered in whimsical designs or bold typeset. Mirrors can be suspended as a fixture to do double duty by making the room look larger. While signs that bear messages of inspiration can make anyone feel right at home.

Storage

The intricacy of a shabby chic decorating scheme makes attractive storage options a must have. Decorative boxes, baskets, and hooks contribute to organization that is as stylish as it is functional. Two suitcases stacked on top of each other can hold souvenirs as well as they work as an end table. Smaller boxes can serve as treasure chests to store various trinkets, baubles, and sentimental keepsakes. Baskets are an inviting form of storage that can be tucked into nooks or displayed on top of cabinetry. Take advantage of empty space on a wall while decorating it at the same time with attractive hooks.

Decorative Items

It is the little things that really count in life. A small touch such as a leather bound notebook or a ceramic vase can make the difference between shabby and shabby chic. A sofa or a bed is just a piece of furniture until it is covered by the perfect assortment of decorative pillows and throws. Glassware such as canisters, bottles, hurricane lamps, and urns catch the flickering light from the window. Proudly display an array of jewellery on a wire bust or metal tree that is as attractive as the merchandise itself. Dangle ornaments from the ceiling or a houseplant to make it feel like Christmas all year round. Details such as metal sculptures peaking out of folds can spark a feeling of wonder in the young and old alike.
