It’s that clean minimalism that we find is so rare in this kind of tableware - the Side Bowl Low Vine is understated, sophisticated and quietly timeless. We enjoy how it brings just a little of the outside in without being too overwhelming with the vines and flowers. The colour palette has a similar effect - it’s easy on the eye but the contrast from that dark brown rim is subtle but very effective.
The overall effect is sort of Japanese - at least to us - in its ability to make even something as everyday as a bowl stand out as an object of beauty, but never dominate a space. Even though this doesn’t have those exaggerated proportions that are common with display pieces, it doesn’t really need them - you’d still notice it and everything else around it.
This works well for mixing with vintage and contemporary styles because the finish doesn’t try too hard to be anything other than stylish.
