Coasters, Placemats & Trivets FAQs

What materials are commonly used in your coasters, placemats, and trivets?

The materials used in our coasters, placemats, and trivets range widely, catering to various preferences and needs. We use durable materials such as ceramic, porcelain, metal, straw, rattan, palm fibre, seagrass, maize, polyester, and paper. Each material has its unique benefits. For example, ceramic and porcelain offer excellent heat resistance and easy clean-up, making them ideal for trivets like the Trivet Largo Tile. Natural materials like seagrass and palm fibre provide an eco-friendly and rustic look for products like the Placemat Vintage Natural. Metal is often used for its robustness and intricate designs, evident in pieces like the Trivets S/2 Dragonfly Asstd.

How are the handcrafted items unique, and should consumers expect variations?

Handcrafted items like our placemats and trivets often showcase slight variations in finish, size, and colour as part of their charm and uniqueness. These variations arise because each piece is individually made rather than mass-produced. For example, products like the Placemat Daisy Nat and the Placemat Raffia Bleach are created using natural materials and traditional weaving techniques. This means that no two pieces are exactly alike, adding to the artisanal appeal of the items. While these differences are not considered faults, they enhance the product’s authenticity and aesthetic value, offering buyers a truly one-of-a-kind item.

What makes the ceramic products durable and easy to maintain?

Ceramic products like the Coasters S/4 Retro Paisley and the Serving Trivet Gum Leaves are crafted from high-quality materials that offer excellent durability and ease of maintenance. Ceramic is known for its hardness and resistance to wear, heat, and staining, making these items perfect for daily use. Their smooth surfaces are easy to wipe clean, ensuring they look as good as new even after extensive use. Additionally, the designs and colours are often protected by a glaze that retains their vibrancy and resists fading. This makes ceramic items not only practical but also long-lasting.

Are the products eco-friendly or made from sustainable materials?

Many of our products are made from eco-friendly and sustainable materials. Items crafted from natural fibres such as seagrass, maize, and rattan, like the Placemat Vintage Natural and the Placemat Sq Weave Naturalwash, are biodegradable and environmentally friendly. These materials are harvested and woven using traditional methods, supporting sustainable practices and reducing the environmental footprint. Products made from recycled or recyclable materials, such as certain types of paper and metal, also contribute to sustainability efforts.

How can I best care for and clean the placemats and trivets?

Caring for and cleaning your placemats and trivets depends on the material they're made from. For ceramic and porcelain items like the Glass Trivet Rio and the Serving Trivet French Stamp, use a damp cloth to wipe away any spills or stains. These materials are non-porous, making them resistant to most stains and very easy to clean. For natural materials such as seagrass, palm fibre, or rattan, a gentle wipe with a damp cloth is usually sufficient. Avoid soaking these items to preserve their integrity. Using them on a regular basis ensures that they maintain their shape and durability. In specific care instructions, it's always best to follow any guidelines provided with the product.

What type of design aesthetics do your products offer?

Our products cater to a wide range of design aesthetics, from rustic and bohemian to modern and minimalist. For a natural and rustic look, items like the Placemat Vintage Natural and the Table Centre Raffia Mat Bleach offer earthy tones and artisanal detailing. For those looking for a more contemporary or elegant touch, pieces like the Coasters S/4 Pretty Floral and the Trivet Malaga Tile provide colourful, intricate designs that can elevate any setting. Various patterns, materials, and styles ensure that there's something for every decor taste.

Can these products be used both indoors and outdoors?

Yes, many of our products are versatile enough to be used both indoors and outdoors. Items made of durable materials like ceramic, metal, or rattan can handle different environments exceptionally well. For example, the Placemat Long Weave Natural and the Trivets S/2 Moroc Asstd are perfect for both an indoor dining setting or an outdoor garden party. However, it's crucial to bring them indoors in adverse weather conditions to extend their longevity, especially for natural fibre products. Always follow the specific care instructions given for each product to ensure durability and long-lasting beauty.
