We think the Baguette Tray Whisper might be one of our most understated yet quietly striking pieces right now. This 70x9.5x2.5cm tray made from natural Paulownia wood is a bit of a showstopper, but in a way that feels intentionally relaxed. It’s hand-carved - so every single piece looks different, which we find customers absolutely love because each one is, quite literally, unique to them.
The wood has this light, almost creamy grain - it’s very calming to look at actually - but there’s that rustic charm to it thanks to the odd knot and the occasional surface crack. We’ve found those design quirks are exactly what make it work for natural or minimalist spaces, or even slightly more earthy Hamptons interiors.
It’s not sealed or waterproofed and shouldn’t be used with food as it won’t hold up to moisture, but we’ve had customers use it on dining tables, benches, or at the entryway for keys, dried botanicals, artificial flowers - we do recommend sticking with decorative pieces or faux plants since living arrangements will damage the finish.
We’ve also heard about these trays being used for quiet little morning rituals - crystals charging on sills, grouped candles (with base protectors), or on vanities for jewellery and perfume bottles. The finish is uncoated and biodegradable so it’s not just safe for people but fine if you’re catering towards eco-aware shoppers who don’t want plastic anything in their homes.
We really think this tray would fit in well with Scandi, coastal bohemian or country modern decor because it doesn’t compete with anything else around it visually. And even though each tray has its own distinct personality (if you can call knots personality!), the finish works in multiples if you want to stack your display full to show off their variety.
One thing to keep in mind - none of these trays look exactly like this picture here! They come with streaks and knots and sometimes there are small cracks that make each one different from the rest. That’s really half the appeal and creates an artisan vibe that has customers eager to snap them up before someone else does.
