Although metalware from the 17th and 18th centuries was typically made from silver and even tin, early pieces were wrought from iron. The fleur de Lys motif, however, is characteristic of the designs used in those centuries, so our Fleur De Lys Rustic White Bell is a reproduction that combines the best of both worlds. Modern techniques have allowed us to recreate pieces like this one at affordable prices.
• The bell is made of composite mixed metals and is painted with a white crust that's been chipped and distressed to achieve the desired shabby chic look. A molded design is embossed on the surface. • The handle takes the shape of a large stylized fleur de lys or flower of the lily, typically found on crests and arms. The symbol has many meanings and has been used by French kings and the Catholic Church for hundreds of years. At about 8" in height, this is a nice piece to add to your home goods and gift departments.
