Bistro Table
There’s no denying the immediate draw of this bistro table. The hand-forged wrought iron base and the solid matte black tabletop, both paired with that tight round design, really create a centrepiece style that can start a lot of interesting conversations.
It’s a medium-sized table at 70x70x73cm and there’s plenty of legroom for its size, so it does double duty as an accent piece or even as a sitting table for small rooms or outdoor spaces. We imagine some clients using them for their weekend brekkies but they also have a nice old world style that fits perfectly in offices, living rooms, or even out in the garden (we do recommend using some protectant on the legs as the years go by).
What we really find interesting about this one is that it’s completely handcrafted, so you’re not going to get two pieces in exactly the same size or finish - part of its charm, really. Some will prefer these little differences in sizing and surface finish as they’d consider it proof of authenticity. The black finish also means any marks or irregularities won’t be visible at all unless you’re going in for a very close inspection.
And while the scrolling on those legs is definitely the first thing anyone would notice - this is what gives it its ‘french cafe’ style - those footers also keep it stable so you’re not dealing with something wobbly or needing balancing like so many cast-iron tables these days. There’s also a touch of jute running through those legs which adds another layer to its already quite complex set of surface textures.
And while most people will bring up ‘industrial’, we see these as sitting somewhere between contemporary industrial and rustic french farmhouse chic. They’re heavy enough to sit outdoors year-round and sturdy enough to last indoors for decades. We can picture these just about anywhere: banks, living rooms, cafes, offices, patios - just about anywhere that needs a sturdy but decorative bistro-style table with a strong story behind it.
