This is one of those pieces that really does stand out. It's the Lamp White Barnacle - we think it's got that perfect blend of subtlety and statement. When we got our hands on these, we realised straight away that it's such a lovely example of tactile ceramics but with this effortless, neutral styling that seems to just work anywhere.
The rounded shape, 25x25x36cm, has a nice chunky proportion without being oversized. When you run your hand along the base, there's a really satisfying pebbled texture to it - not overdone or sharp-edged, just gentle enough for an occasional table or living room setup. These are ceramic, and as they're crafted by hand you get some delightful imperfections in the glaze. Each one has its own little personality - sometimes you'll get flecks or spots or a slightly uneven wash. We think that's half the charm - this isn't mass-produced plastic.
The lamp has a really creamy off-white finish - very soft, easy on the eye and goes well with any kind of decor really. Looks right at home with modern minimal interiors but would be lovely in a more country-inspired setting too. And there's something about this design that's almost coastal? Not seashell kitsch but understated sea-inspired elegance.
It makes a difference in those little nooks or office set-ups where you don't want something loud but you do want something interesting with its own story to tell. And yep, it does shed beautiful ambient light because the base doesn't glare and the shade's also quite natural-looking.
All up, it's an inviting piece with personality but not too much drama. Perfect if you're after something unique but versatile enough for most households or offices needing a bit of textural warmth.
