Plate Artisan Ocean There’s an almost painterly quality to the Plate Artisan Ocean - it’s like an abstract canvas stretched across this contemporary ceramic serving dish. And you notice straight away that it’s got a real handmade vibe about it, with that slightly irregular round shape and a wavy rim. The glossy finish is subtle, not too shiny, and you can run your fingers over the surface and almost feel those brushstrokes where the turquoise starts to fade into a paler aqua towards the edge. And that metallic gold trim just draws the eye to what sits on top of the plate - doesn’t really take away from anything on display but gives a nice little pop of visual interest. It’s 29.5x17.5x2cm so it could be used for a main course or as a serving platter, but we find that it shines best when paired with other tableware - creates this laid-back, almost coastal table setting that works nicely for casual brunches or big family dinners. But it’ll also stand out just fine as an accent piece up on a shelf or in display cases. Just keep in mind that this one needs a bit of extra care and attention to keep its shine: it’s hand finished, so variations will be present, but that only adds to its charm in our opinion. It’s made from ceramic and you’ll want to handwash these (not dishwasher safe). It’s also not suitable for use in the microwave due to that gold paint on the edges. The blue-green colour can work with almost any decor style – contemporary, rustic or beachy themed interiors are our picks – and it goes without saying that it serves as both functional serveware and an eye-catching display piece.
