The Ginger Jar Botanical is a visual spectacle with a variety of functions which includes being used as a storage item for aromatic spices such as curry, thyme, turmeric, cinnamon and even ginger from which the name comes from. The jar is made in a large dimension using premium quality porcelain material. It is 18.5 centimetres wide, 18.5 centimetres long and a whopping 36 centimetres tall.
Did you know why certain porcelain jars such as this Ginger Jar Botanical are often referred to as "Ginger Jars"? Ginger jars have their history entrenched in ancient Chinese and European tradition. The Chinese moulded beautiful porcelain jars which was used in storing and transporting spices especially ginger to the West. Hence, in Europe, these jars became known as "ginger jars" as they mostly contained ginger. This particular Ginger Jar Botanical is crafted in similitude of those ancient Chinese ginger jars. It has a domed lid the top of which is painted in jet black colour.
